Overview

CleanBC — Go Electric Other Rebates offers post-purchase incentives of up to $150,000 per vehicle, depending on the technology and class, to support the acquisition or lease of new zero-emission specialty-use vehicles in British Columbia. Eligible activities include purchasing or leasing battery-electric, plug-in hybrid or hydrogen fuel cell motorcycles, low-speed vehicles, cargo e-bikes, medium- and heavy-duty on-road trucks, airport and port specialty vehicles, and utility vehicles that meet program criteria.

Activities funded

  • Acquisition or leasing of new electric motorcycles that meet program requirements for use in British Columbia.
  • Acquisition or leasing of eligible low-speed neighbourhood zero-emission vehicles for local transportation needs.
  • Acquisition or leasing of qualifying electric cargo bicycles to support goods movement or last‑mile delivery activities.
  • Acquisition or leasing of eligible on-road medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission commercial vehicles for business or fleet operations.
  • Acquisition or leasing of qualifying airport, port specialty, or other eligible utility vehicles powered by zero-emission technologies for operational use in B.C.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be an individual, business, non-profit organization, or public sector organization that is based in British Columbia or has a B.C.-based affiliate.
  • Business applicants must be legally licensed to operate in British Columbia and provide a valid B.C. business licence where applicable.
  • Business and organizational applicants must provide a WorkSafeBC number, valid government-issued identification for the applicant, and at least one recent (within the last three months) utility bill as proof of operations in B.C.
  • The project must involve the purchase or lease of a new zero-emission specialty-use vehicle that is on the Program’s List of Eligible Vehicle Models and used in B.C. for the minimum required period.
  • For cargo e-bikes, on-road medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, utility vehicles, airport and port specialty vehicles, and certain non-NZEV low-speed vehicles, the applicant must be a business, non-profit, or public sector organization (these categories are not open to individuals).

Who is eligible?

  • Individuals based in British Columbia purchasing or leasing eligible zero-emission motorcycles or neighbourhood zero emission vehicles (NZEVs)
  • Businesses licensed to operate in British Columbia, including those acquiring eligible cargo e-bikes, medium- and heavy-duty on-road vehicles, utility vehicles, airport or port specialty vehicles, and certain low-speed vehicles
  • Non-profit organizations based in British Columbia
  • Public sector organizations based in British Columbia
  • B.C.-based affiliates of organizations headquartered outside British Columbia

Who is not eligible

  • Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), their affiliates and dealerships purchasing their own vehicles, which are explicitly ineligible for rebates under this program.
  • Businesses that are not licensed to operate in British Columbia, since a valid B.C. business licence is required where applicable.
  • Organizations or individuals seeking rebates for vehicles already funded under other CleanBC vehicle programs (e.g., CleanBC Go Electric Vehicle Rebate Program, CleanBC Go Electric Commercial Vehicle Pilots Program, CleanBC Industry Fund) for the same vehicle.
  • Applicants attempting to stack provincial funding from this program with other CleanBC program funds beyond the allowed limits (i.e., more than 75% of eligible costs for most applicants, or above 100% for local or Indigenous governments).

Eligible expenses

  • Purchase price of new eligible electric motorcycles.
  • Purchase price of new eligible low-speed vehicles and neighbourhood zero-emission vehicles (NZEVs).
  • Purchase price of new eligible electric cargo bicycles (cargo e-bikes) that meet program definitions.
  • Purchase price of new eligible on-road medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles used for commercial purposes.
  • Purchase price of new eligible airport and port specialty zero-emission vehicles.
  • Purchase price of new eligible utility zero-emission vehicles, including off-road and small marine utility vehicles that meet program definitions.
  • Lease costs for eligible vehicles, proportional to the lease term and subject to program limits.

  • Organizations with a British Columbia–based affiliate.

Selection criteria

The CleanBC Go Electric Rebates Program evaluates and selects applicants based on the eligibility of the vehicle and the completeness of the application, ensuring that the vehicles meet specific certification and performance standards. Rebates are determined by vehicle type, purchase price, and availability of program funds.

  • Proof of purchase
  • Eligibility of the vehicle (new, certified, meets definitions)
  • Battery electric, plug-in hybrid, or hydrogen fuel cell power
  • Purchase or lease within Canada
  • Vehicle manufacturer must submit Vehicle Eligibility Application and supporting documentation
  • Rebate amount calculation based on specific vehicle type
  • Time the vehicle remains registered and insured in British Columbia (12-36 months depending on vehicle type)
  • Completed application and necessary documentation postmarked within 90 days of vehicle purchase
  • Compliance with stacking funding limitations from other government programs
  • Requirements to respond to annual vehicle surveys/questionnaires for commercial applicants

Fill out the application form with all required information as detailed on the program website.

  • Ensure all documentation is photocopied and included with your form.
  • Postmark and send the completed application and supporting documents no later than 90 days after the vehicle purchase.

Await Confirmation

  • Eligible applications will initiate the rebate process once accepted.
  • Note that incomplete or ineligible applications will not be returned.

Additional information

  • The program is funded by the Province of British Columbia and administered by the Fraser Basin Council under the CleanBC Go Electric branding.
  • Rebate amounts and other program components may be modified or the program may be terminated at any time by the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation without prior notice.
  • Vehicles must appear on the official List of Eligible Vehicle Models at the time of purchase; vehicles bought before being added to the list are not eligible for a rebate.
  • Commercial recipients of rebates must agree to participate in annual vehicle surveys or questionnaires and may face penalties, including being barred from future participation, if false or misleading information is provided.
